Why I built this tool

When Google launched the Loyalty Customer feature in Merchant Center, I was excited, it is a powerful way to show loyalty pricing and personalised offers to your existing customers directly in Google Search and Shopping.

But there was a problem. The only way to submit customer data (as of writing) is through the Merchant API. There is no data feed option. No CSV upload in the interface. Nothing. You either build an API integration yourself, or you hire a developer to do it.

That is not realistic for most merchants and agencies. So I built this tool. It is a Google Sheet that connects to the API on your behalf. You paste in your customer list, click submit, and it handles everything. No code. No developer. No data feed setup required.

This is exactly the kind of thing I built MerchantCodex to do, take complex Google infrastructure and make it accessible to merchants & professionals who should not need a computer science degree to use it.

The problem

Why this is harder than it should be

Google’s Loyalty Customer feature is genuinely useful, but getting your data in requires navigating barriers that most merchants and agencies were never told about.

🚫 No feed option exists

Unlike products or promotions, there is no data feed format for loyalty customers. The API is the only supported method.

👨‍💻 API access requires a developer

Building a direct API integration means writing code, handling OAuth, and managing credentials, none of which merchants should need to do.

📋 Alpha access needed

The loyaltyCustomers API is currently in v1alpha. Google must manually enable it for each Merchant Center account before it works.

🔍 Almost no documentation

Most merchants discover this feature exists but find almost no practical guidance on how to actually use it end-to-end.

Four steps to submit your customer list

Request API access from Google
Contact Google Merchant Center support and ask them to enable the loyaltyCustomers API (v1alpha) for your account. This is a one-time step. The instructions tab inside the sheet walks you through exactly what to say.

Make a copy of the sheet
Click the button below to get your own personal copy of the Google Sheet template. Enter your Merchant Center ID in the Settings tab, that is the only configuration required.

Paste in your customer data
Add your customer list to the Customers tab. You can include email, phone number, name, address, loyalty tier, and point balance. The tool validates every row before submitting and skips anything incomplete, telling you exactly why.

Click Submit and review results
Use the MerchantCodex menu inside the sheet to submit. Each row gets a result written back next to it, submitted, skipped with a reason, or failed with the error message. No guessing what happened.

⚠️ One-time setup required before first use
Google must manually enable the loyaltyCustomers API for your Merchant Center account before submissions will go through. This is a Google restriction, not something we can bypass. The Instructions tab inside the sheet tells you exactly what to ask for and who to contact. Allow a few business days for Google to respond.
